Q: How do I know which options to select with my windows?

A: As you are setting up your window pricing estimate, you will need to make some decisions about features you may want to add. For instance, to save energy you may have your windows made with Energy Star LOW E and filled with Argon gas. Argon is colorless odorless, nonflammable, nontoxic, and above all a safe insert gas heavier than air. Also you will need to decide whether or not you want clear glass, tinted glass, obscure glass (usually for bathroom windows) and if you want grid in your windows. We also have the option of pattern glass. We have a showroom that displays all of your glass options. You will also need to decide if you are wanting White or Desert Sand. We do offer specialty colors upon request.

Q: Is there a minimum window purchase?

A: No, where we manufacture the windows here at our facility there is no MINIMUM requirement.

Q: What is tempered and obscured glass?

A: Tempered glass is a type of safety glass made of heat strengthened glass. If the glass is ever broken it will simply crystallize into very small particles, reducing the risk of personal injury or property damage from falling shards of glass. Some states or localities may require tempered glass for windows that are close to the floor. An up charge must be added for windows that require tempered glass. If you know of a window in your home that will require tempered glass, please indicate it when you call or come in for pricing.

Q: How much time will it take to have my windows manufactured and installed?

A: Crown windows are custom manufactured just for the openings of the windows for your home. Therefore it does take some time to get them ready for installation. Depending on your location, it is usually a matter of weeks before the new windows will be ready to go in. An average home takes one day to completely install the finished windows. Of course this depends on the difficulty of the installation at your home and the number of windows you have.

Q: Why should I replace the windows in my home?

A: You should consider replacing your windows if:

Q: Will new windows eliminate condensation?

A: Condensation is a direct result of interior humidity and the difference between indoor and outside air temperature. If you keep the humidity in your house low, then the likelihood of experiencing condensation is also low. However, the efficiency of your window will also impact the temperature and humidity level at which condensation occurs. Energy efficient windows will help reduce condensation. Here’s why: high performance windows with low U-factors result in inside glass surface temperatures much closer to the room air temperature. Windows with warm edge technologies and non-metal frames are also less likely to have condensation on the frame or at the edge of the glass.

Q: Can I paint my vinyl windows?

A: You shouldn’t because it will void the manufactures warranty on the frame material and may cause the material to warp. However, we offer factory applied color finishes on our windows. We are able to do this and still warranty the product because we use a specifically formulated coating designed for this application which is guaranteed not to chip, crack, flake, or cause the window frame to warp or buckle.
